Conditions - Sidebar
Overview: Learn how to navigate the sidebar in the Conditions tab on Page to view claimed conditions, Flagged Documents, and other conditions.
Claimed Conditions
- The sidebar displays all conditions claimed by the veteran, including both formal and informal claims. Page determines claimed conditions based on whether a condition is:
- Included on a 526 EZ
- Included on a Codesheet
- Included on a Rating Decision
- An informal claim prior to 2015
- Each condition shows its name and current rating percentage. Hover over a condition to see its claim status, latest rating, and effective date.
- Click on any condition to open a detailed view with Procedural History, Filings, Medical Evidence, and Other Evidence, with references to each relevant piece of evidence.
- Sort conditions by claim status, rating, or alphabetically.
- Page also handles Individual Unemployability (IU), DIC, and SMC cases.
Claim Status
- Claim status is Page's calculation of whether a claim stream is open for appeal, pending adjudication, or closed (outside the appeals window).
- Page has incorporated all of the VA's rules for what is open and pending, for both AMA and Legacy, to determine the status of each claim stream.
- On rare occasions, conditions may be marked as Unknown - this is usually because the VA did not follow their own procedural rules.
Flagged Documents (Note: IMPORTANT)
- Flagged Documents highlights documents that are not included in any claimed condition but are associated with an important file type, such as Buddy Lay statements, C&P exams, Rating Decisions, and various VA forms and filings. This list is also full customizable - you can add and remove file types as you see fit (Note: this setting is at an organization level).
- Click on a Flagged Document to see the file type and decide what to do with it. You can merge it into a claimed condition, add pieces of evidence to other conditions or archive it.
Unknown Conditions
- An Unknown condition is a type of Flagged Document. Usually, these are empty forms but on occasion something critical can be found there. Page includes this as a fallback to make sure nothing slips through the cracks.
Other Conditions
- Other Conditions shows all conditions mentioned in the file that aren't part of claimed conditions or Flagged Documents.
- Conditions found in STRs appear first, followed by conditions found in other medical treatment records like CAPRIs or post-service records.
Managing Conditions
- Click the three-dot menu on any condition to archive it, unflag it (in the case of Flagged condition) , or edit its name. Unflagging a condition moves it to Other Conditions.
- Click "Archived" to view and unarchive archived conditions.
- Collapse the sidebar to reduce clutter, or use the search bar to find conditions by name.
- Use the two-arrows button to merge conditions. See the Merging Conditions article for more details.
