Conditions - Flagged Documents and Unknown Conditions

Overview: Learn about Flagged Documents in the Conditions tab on Page and how they help ensure no critical evidence is missed.

What Are Flagged Documents?

• Flagged Documents is a section in the sidebar under the Conditions tab. It surfaces documents associated with important file types that are not part of any claimed condition.
• There are two types of Flagged Documents:

Condition-Specific Flagged Documents

• These are conditions that Page identified as being associated with an important file type but are not included in any claimed condition.
• Important file types were defined by Page's Head of VA Disability and include things like:
  • BVA decisions
  • Notices of Disagreement
  • VA forms
  • Critical medical records
  • Buddy lay statements
• Page provides a default list, but you can customize it if you find the results too noisy.
• A condition appearing in Flagged Documents may indicate an unadjudicated claim the VA should have considered, or something the VA should have proactively provided to the veteran.

Unknown Conditions

• An Unknown Condition is a document that Page recognizes as important but cannot determine which condition it's associated with.
• 90% of the time, Unknown Conditions relate to a blank form. When something important does come through, you can:
  • Merge it with an existing claimed condition
  • Add the information into another condition
  • Archive or unflag the condition if you deem it not relevant

Why This Matters

• Flagged Documents are designed to make Page as comprehensive as possible and create fallbacks to ensure no critical evidence is missed.
